Microsoft released a new tool to the public called Clarity. Clarity is much like Hotjar with some light analytics like data. At its core Clarity is a user behavior analytics tool, it allows you to get heatmaps of your pages, recordings of users, and how they interact with your product.
A lot of these features have been available in a lot of other products. But, Clarity doesn't have any page view limits at the moment so it can handle anything you throw at it. It is GDPR compliant which, is critical for this type of tracking.
The features that got my attention were highlighting "Quick Backs", "Rage Clicks" and "Excessive Scrolling."
Quick Backs highlights sessions that quickly got back to their previous page. This could help see if you are serving up the right content on-page. Excessive Scrolling shows if a user has scrolled more than expected. Rage clicks will show if a user has clicked or tapped in the same area over and over again.
Clarity is new and I haven't gotten a lot of sessions on my sites yet. But, you can see a demo of their dashboard on their site now and signup for a new plan as well.
Clarity shows a lot of promise and I think it is worth testing out on some of your sites and some of your content to see how it can help you spot some ways to increase your Page Experience.
